Day 1: TANGER – TETOUAN – CHEFCHAOUEN
You will be collected by our guide in the port, airport or appointed place in Tangier at the appointed time and beginning of the route. We exit in the direction of Chaouen, making a stopover to visit Tetouan, its medina and the most emblematic places of the city. Continuation toward Chaouen with a mysterious people in a blue city, it was founded as a secret place from which to attack the Portuguese installed on the north coast of the country. It was totally prohibited for Europeans to enter the city until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920. Arrival in Chaouen and free afternoon to have a first contact with the city. Dinner and lodging at the Riad.
Day 2: CHAOUEN – ROMAN RUINS – MEKNES – FES
After a good breakfast we will take the route of the Rif mountains where we can see the most emblematic places of this region living a world of contrasts. We will arrive at the Roman Ruins at Volubilis; an ancient Roman city where there are the best preserved archaeological remains and the most visited UNESCO site in Morocco. You will be able to discover the ruins and some points of interest are:
The Forum, basilica and the Temple of Jupiter: located at the top of Volubilis, these three sites were the centre of the public life of the city.
Thermal Baths: While the condition is quite neglected, you can still see the heating system used by the roman baths. At its side are the communal latrines.
Arch of Caracalla: Built in marble in the year 217 in honour of the emperor and his mother. When it was built it was crowned by a bronze quadriga.
Tiles: Without a doubt the most famous of Volubilis are its mosaics. The evidence of Hercules, the bathroom of the nymphs, the Acrobat, Bacchus and Ariadne bathing or Diana are some of the most famous. Finding them all is difficult task without a guide.
We will continue toward Meknes, the most humble of the four imperial cities of Morocco, where you will have free time for lunch and visiting the city. Some of the places that you should not miss are:
Souks: a simple stroll through the souks serves to see that we are in a city more modern than Fes. Very interesting is the Hedim Square in Meknes, the centre of public and cultural life of the city. The restaurants and the terraces have been installed in the areas where once were witnessed public executions and actual advertisements.
Bab el-Mansour Gate: Communicates the previous square with the old Imperial City of Moulay Ismail. Its building was completed in 1732.
Dar Jamaï Museum: It is one of the more interesting museums in Morocco. Is located in a beautiful building with a central courtyard and has very good decor.
Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail: One of the key visits of Meknes. Here is the tomb of a Sultan that marked the origins of Morocco today.
Madrasa Bou Inania: From its top is obtained curious views of the city. Its interior is very similar to the madrassas of Fes.
Ace-Sufara Koubbat: Great crypt used as a warehouse of food. It is located in the Plaza de Armas.
Heri is-Souani: Under this name are the royal stables of Moulay Ismail, with capacity for 12,000 horses. It is a huge building and is quite interesting.
We will continue to Fes where we arrive in the middle of the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in the Hotel.
Day 3: FES – FES
After a good breakfast, today we will have the possibility to make a guided tour of the most emblematic places of Fes, entering its medina, you feel that time has gone back, small alleys where you are not allowed any other means of transport than donkeys, the tumult of the people moving through the labyrinth of narrow streets, racing in the endless souks, take a coffee in the terraces, stepping into the old Koranic schools and not to miss the thousands of craftsmen plying their trades. In Fes we can live in a world of fantasy away from everything that we consider normal, a scenario of djellaba, carpets and wonderful lamps. A visit here is different and special. Dinner and accommodation in the Hotel.
Day 4: FES – RABAT – ASILAH
Breakfast and departure to the Atlantic Coast; Rabat being the first stop. Visit to the capital of Morocco where you can view the Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, the Kasbah Oudayas, etc. In the afternoon continuation toward Asilah, making a stop in Larache, where will visit and take a leisurely stroll around the most emblematic places, and enjoying the stunning views of the sea. Continuation until Asilah, where they will spend the night. Dinner and accommodation in the Hotel.
Day 5: ASILAH – TANGIER
Breakfast and free time to enjoy Asilah, strolling through its streets, visit the medina, know their walls, and relax with the charm of this city. At the appointed time, transfer to the port, airport or agreed place in Tangiers and end of our services.
